Just Open Architecture (JOA) is an architectural practice based in Shanghai / Rotterdam, founded in 2014 in Rotterdam by Chinese architect Kai Wang and Canadian architect Jordan Yerbury.

At our core is the belief that design should be an “open” process. Our mission is to meet the diverse, on-the-ground needs of our clients with the highest level of space quality. We believe that a thoughtful and perceptive design attitude fosters open dialogue and ultimately leads to better realized spaces. Communication and collaboration are central to our practice. We integrate research and rigorous experimentation into each project site, viewing these steps as essential to clarifying complex layers of meaning. Our diverse team remains sensitive to the contexts and cultures that inspire our work, striving in every project to uncover the potential for high-quality outcomes that truly take root in their context.
